Just a word on proper tool care of our brand of tools.
Lubrication
Do not use to grease for lubricating punch surfaces!!!
The fit between the punches and punch support material (the gold colored material the punches slide through) is less than a ¼ of the thickness of a sheet of paper. This fit will not allow the grease to work into the tool and provide any lubricant. Eventually, the grease ends up drying on the tool surface like glue resulting in excessive binding and wear.
What to do if grease has been used on the tool.
Step 1. Remove any grease by thoroughly wiping down affected surfaces.
Step 2. Spray a coat of penetrating oil on the affected surfaces, allow to soak in, and then wipe down.
Repeat as required to remove caked on grease.
Step 3. Lubricate with light machine oil as recommended below.
How to lubricate your tools.
These tools should only be lubricated using light machine oil in the following manner.
If the lubrication is taking place on the machine, ensure all power is turned off, and the appropriate safety measures followed.
Weekly care. Use light machine oil in the pre-drilled oiling holes located on punch support material (gold colored material).
Monthly care.
Step 1. Repeat weekly procedure as previously outlined.
Step 2. Along the punches, add enough surplus oil to ensure dirt gets flushed during Step 3.
Step 3. Run tool for approximately 20 to 30 minutes without any paper.
Step 4. Remove toll from machine and wipe off excess oil and re-install in machine for Step 5.
Step 5. Run scrap paper through the tool to remove any excess oil. Your tool is now ready for regular production.
